Post updated Saturday, April 6th 1:34pm:
The Lawrence Farmers Market, held every Saturday morning, is scheduled for its seasonal grand opening on April 13th.
According to the marketplace’s website, more than 70 vendors have registered so far. We offer produce, meat, eggs, homemade baked goods, wine, honey, coffee, tea, hot breakfasts, fresh lemonade, live plants, cut flowers, cosmetics, handmade pottery, knitted goods and more.
The website says all products are locally sourced, as vendors must farm or produce products within 80 miles of a market.
The weekly market, normally held on Tuesday afternoons, will not continue this year, said market manager Anna Skenador. She said the board made this decision because of low vendor availability and low attendance last year. The board wants to focus on expanding Saturday programming and finding a permanent location for the market, she said.
“The board would like to bring back the Tuesday market if we can secure a permanent location or if there is enough public interest to bring it back,” she said.
This Lawrence Farmers Market opening date is set for Saturday, April 13th from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot area of 824 New Hampshire St.
The market will continue with the same opening hours every Saturday until Nov. 23, according to the market’s Facebook page.
Pets are welcome as long as owners follow local guidelines.
In addition to cash, debit cards, credit cards, and EBT cards are also accepted payment methods. If paying by card, patrons can stop by the Market Information Booth near the Alley on New Hampshire Street and swipe their card to redeem Market Tokens.
Free 2-hour parking is available at New Hampshire Avenue and Vermont Avenue. His 2 hour free parking lot is on New Hampshire Street. There is nearby metered municipal parking, free parking in the surrounding area, and bicycle parking on the north side of the Rhode Island Street entrance. Please see this parking map for more information.
