MANSFIELD, Mo. (AP) – An India-based pipe manufacturing company plans to move its first U.S. production facility to northwest Louisiana, state officials said.
Global Seamless Tube & Pipes’ $35 million project will create 135 direct new jobs in DeSoto Parish and more than 250 indirect jobs in the area, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development said in a Thursday news release. He said it would bring jobs.

“As a natural gas hub and a major player in the international energy supply chain, Louisiana is a natural choice for our second production facility, the first in the Western Hemisphere,” said AR Biswas, president of Global Seamless.
Mr. Biswas added that the new factory will enable the company to serve its customers with a local supply chain.

“This investment will foster growth in rural areas while providing support to Louisiana’s oil and gas industry,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois.
The company is a leading manufacturer and exporter of cold-drawn and hot-finished carbon, alloy and stainless steel seamless tubes and pipes, according to the release. We export to industrial customers in more than 10 countries around the world.
“This project will breathe new life into a once thriving manufacturing facility in Mansfield and provide more career opportunities for our residents,” said Michael Norton, DeSoto Parish Police Jury Parish Administrator. said. “We look forward to this project and the possibilities offered to the community and good people by Global Seamless Tubes and Pipes.”

Engineering and design of the former Hensley Industries facility is currently underway, with construction and installation of the first production line expected to follow shortly thereafter. The company expects commercial operations to begin by the end of the year.
