President Joe Biden has done his best this week to reassure Democrats that he’s fit for the job he’s running for, after a deadly weekend in Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson took a strong stance against those who commit heinous acts of violence in the city, and one city council member has pondered whether NASCAR deserves to be part of a Chicago summer tradition.

Biden wrote this in a letter to congressional Democrats.
“We must ensure that each and every person is held accountable for the pain, trauma and suffering they have caused our city. There are consequences. Violence has consequences. We will not allow our city to be destroyed and damaged by criminal acts.”

Johnson made the remarks at a press conference Monday morning following the shootings in which more than 100 people were shot over the Independence Day weekend. As reported by the Tribune.

Pritzker voiced his support for President Joe Biden, saying he is mentally and physically capable. Quoted by The Sun-Times.

Wittsberg was referring to a rule in the 1960s that allowed the Chicago Police Department to fire officers with ties to the Ku Klux Klan. WBEZ reports:.

Lopez had criticized the mayor’s support of NASCAR’s Chicago street racing. As reported by the Tribune.
