Keep fighting… Tyler Ankrum returns to Pocono Raceway this week following a fifth-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway (NSS) two weeks ago. His fourth top-five finish is the most top-five finishes in a single season of his career. Ankrum’s performance at NSS has moved him to sixth in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) points standings with three races remaining in the regular season. The driver of the No. 18 LIUNA Chevrolet Silverado RST now sits 47 points behind the cut line in the standings as he prepares to make his sixth start at Long Pond, Pennsylvania.
Close race… The 14th round of the NCTS Tour sees Ankrum return to the Pocono Mountains with the playoffs looming. Ankrum currently sits sixth in the standings with 377 total points. The California-born driver has recorded six races with 40 or more points this season, including a high of 48 points at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Ankrum has earned two playoff points this season thanks to stage wins at Daytona International Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway.
Pocono Pace… Ankrum will make his sixth career start this Friday at the “Tricky Triangle.” In his five previous starts, Ankrum has an average placing of 8.6. The California native has three top-10 finishes in his first three starts at Pocono, including two top-five finishes. Ankrum’s best start and finish came in 2019 in his debut at the 2.5-mile speedway, where he started ninth and finished runner-up. Ankrum will be looking to improve his career average placing at Pocono and extend his lead over the cut line on Friday night.
