Snack Attack: What’s new and trending?
I’m Haley Shipp bringing you agriculture news from the Southeast. This is the Agriculture Information Network.
The title of today’s show is “Snack Attack!,” and yesterday on the show we learned that a food company, Mondelez International, reported that 88% of people are very keen on eating snacks, so we wanted to know what’s new and trending in the snacking world.
As we mentioned yesterday, many people are choosing foods with fewer calories, preservatives, and sugar. High-protein, nutrient-dense snacks are also on the rise. With that in mind, FoodDive.com has put together a list of the top 5 snacks to watch at the 2024 Food & Snacks Expo.
1. Sustainable Fish Jerky
2. Cheese, butter, and sea salt aside, how about some food-inspired popcorn flavors? We’re now seeing options like chili crunch, pad thai, and Mexican street corn.
3. Caffeinated gum
4. Brain Smacks. Sour candies that are meant to keep you smack-sour throughout the entire experience.
5. Pickles. Expand one brand from pickle cotton candy to a whole line of sauces, pastes and condiments.
