Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding created a frenzy on social media. From the pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar, Gujarat to a lavish party in Portofino, Italy, the son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani threw a grand celebration attended by A-listers from various fraternities. Recent reports have said that the billionaire rented three Falcon 2000 jets to ferry guests to the wedding.
According to the news agency ReutersRajan Mehra, CEO of charter airline Club One Air, said the Ambanis have rented three Falcon 2000 jets to transport wedding guests and that more than 100 private jets are expected to be used during the wedding celebrations. “Guests are coming from all over the country and each aircraft will make multiple flights around the country,” Mehra said. In May, the Ambanis hosted a lavish pre-wedding event on a cruise ship that made stops in Rome, Cannes and Portofino, which was attended by almost all Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aalia Bhatt, Janhavi Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan.
Ahead of the wedding, the Ambanis organised a sangeet ceremony for the couple, which featured a performance by Justin Bieber.
Last week, Mumbai Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory warning commuters that Anant and Radhika’s wedding celebrations were a “public event” and could cause traffic congestion. “Due to public events being held at Jio World Convention Centre, Bandra Kurla Complex from July 5 and July 12 to 15, 2024, the following traffic restrictions will be in place to ensure smooth flow of traffic,” Mumbai Traffic Police wrote in a statement.
However, this did not go down well with Mumbai residents and sparked anger at the Mumbai Police for calling the Ambanis’ wedding reception a “public” event.
