RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that Homestead Creamery will invest more than $2.5 million in renovations and expansion of its production facility in Franklin County.
Founded in 2001 in Barn Chimney, Homestead Creamery sources high-quality milk from local dairy farms and produces a variety of premium drinking milk, ice cream, eggnog and other dairy products. The company operates an on-site retail market and deli that features a variety of dairy products along with Virginia’s finest and Virginia-made products.
“Following the celebration of Virginia Dairy Month and Virginia Agriculture Week, today’s announcement by Homestead Creamery of their expansion and investment in Franklin County and Virginia’s dairy industry is another example of Virginia moving forward,” said Governor Youngkin. “We are grateful to Homestead Creamery for their investment in Virginia’s leading milk-producing county and helping grow Virginia’s fourth-largest dairy industry.”
The company plans to build a new ice cream production room and install additional production and refrigeration equipment. The expansion is due to increased customer demand for its ice cream products.
The expansion will see the company create two new jobs and purchase an additional $1.9 million in Virginia-made cream over the next three years.
