State Senator Linda Holmes (D-Aurora) secured $61 million for infrastructure improvement investments in Kane and Kendall counties through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s “Rebuild Illinois” multi-year plan.

Governor Holmes announced the infrastructure investments in a press release on July 9. The investments, valued at $61 million in total, will support 13 road and rail crossing improvement projects planned for FY 2025 in the 42nd State Senate District.

“Each year, ongoing Rebuild Illinois investments improve our aging infrastructure while also improving access to jobs and opportunity in our region,” Holmes said in the release. “Kane and Kendall Counties are booming. Investments in our infrastructure expand capacity for families, businesses and freight logistics. They also increase accessibility and safety while creating thousands of good-paying jobs.”

According to the announcement, IDOT’s multiyear plan will invest $40 billion in construction projects over the next six years, investing in all modes of transportation, including roads and bridges, aviation, public transportation, freight and passenger rail, waterways, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

“Investments in our region are essential to keeping our economy moving forward,” Holmes said in the release. “Our region continues to experience significant growth, and these investments will help meet our needs and prepare our economy for the future.”

Projects throughout the 42nd District are set to receive funding from the multi-year planned investment, including several projects in St. Charles, Elgin, Aurora, Geneva, Batavia, Oswego, Montgomery, Yorkville, Sugar Grove and unincorporated Kendall County.
