Police have arrested a Brazilian drug lord who had eluded investigation for two years. Reportedly, it all started when his wife started posting posts on Instagram flaunting her husband’s wealth. Interestingly, this is not the first time that social media posts have landed drug lord Ronald Rolando in a sticky situation. Police once arrested the 50-year-old man based on posts shared by his ex-wife.
“A fugitive drug lord has been arrested after his wife revealed his location in an Instagram post. Ronald Rowland, who has ties to Mexican drug cartels and is accused of laundering $900 million over the past five years, was on the run in Brazil for two years before his wife, Andreza de Lima, was arrested after tagging a lunch location on Instagram. De Lima ran a bikini shop – one of 100 businesses Rowland used to launder money and frequently posted about on the platform,” the Daily Mail wrote while sharing the video.
The video, a montage of various footage, shows the drug lord and his family on holiday.

People had a lot to say about the news of the arrest that hit social media, like this person who wrote, “Attention is an addiction,” while another added, “You couldn’t be more stupid,” and a third commented, “How did she get an account? Scary.”
“There are bikini advertisements, but whether that bikini can buy multi-million dollar planes and luxury cars is another matter,” federal police officer Ricardo Ruiz told Fantastico newspaper, Metro reported.
“For example, I found a partner in a company who works in a restaurant but is also a partner in several companies that move tens of millions of reais,” Ruiz added.
“He is a very cautious individual. There have been numerous Federal Bureau of Investigation operations investigating criminal organisations that are heavily involved in drug trafficking throughout South America, Central America and Mexico, and Ronald was investigated in those operations for his involvement with these major drug traffickers,” a federal police officer told the Mirror.
Ronald and his wife, who is under investigation for possible involvement, reportedly declined to discuss the matter and released a statement saying they would not be commenting at this time.
