With more than 7,000 active tech companies, Spain’s startup ecosystem is one of the most promising in Europe, creating 100,000 jobs and generating €11.54 billion in economic output per year.
Despite VC funding declining 43% year-over-year, acceleration programs are quickly becoming the primary means for emerging startups to achieve growth and consolidation in the market.
That is exactly the mission of Acelera Startups, a free, fully subsidized, five-month acceleration program developed by ISDI’s IMPACT Accelerator and managed by the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI). The Next Generation Fund, part of the Spanish Government’s Recovery and Resilience Plan, is funding the program.
Acelera Startups has formed a new group of 11 startups in the “Digital and Communications” sector from across Spain, driving the latest wave of innovative players in the Spanish ecosystem. The program targeting these sectors is one of four that Acelera Startups will offer this year. IMPACT Accelerator has also launched two regional programs (Madrid and Catalonia) and another program for startups across Spain focused on innovation in the mobility sector.
“Spain’s dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem is also evident in the number of innovative start-ups we’ve seen in sectors such as digital business and telecommunications, with great work being done across the country,” said Jesús Tapia, Director of IMPACT Accelerator. “With the support of EOI and the investment of the EU Next Generation fund, these start-ups will have vital resources to fuel their growth and prospects.”
