Meta recently introduced a generative artificial intelligence (AI) feature in messaging app WhatsApp that has already proven popular among many, with the ability to generate images without leaving the app, and can be used in a similar way to ChatGPT.
It appears the company isn’t done with Meta AI just yet, as it has started testing a new AI feature on WhatsApp that will allow users to instantly analyze and edit images.

WhatsApp beta version 2.24.14.20 brings two new features from Meta AI to users: You can upload a photo and ask a question or let the AI edit the photo using text prompts Users can upload their own images or take a photo using the camera button in the bottom right corner According to Meta, the uploaded images are analyzed by the AI, including for facial features, and users can delete these photos at any time.
However, it is not yet confirmed how much image editing Meta AI can do on WhatsApp. Considering other AI-powered image editing tools, Meta AI should be able to remove objects, remove and replace backgrounds, and tweak the look of images.
WhatsApp’s Meta AI is based on the company’s latest and most capable large-scale language generation AI model, Llama 3, and supports multimodality – it can understand text, speech and images, and also generate responses in text, speech and images.
Apart from WhatsApp, Meta also deploys its AI on other popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, where users can access chatbots to get quick responses and generate images for free.
