City Farm Group has established a subsidiary in Los Angeles called “Out of the Box Media Hub,” which aims to participate in the production of feature films that are scheduled to be released on specialized media platforms by the end of the year.
City Farm Chairman Mahmoud Kamal said the move is part of a strategy to diversify investment resources and revenues, and that City Farm is keen to contribute to the development of arts and culture in Egypt, with an eye on international markets.
Art production has grown in recent years, with Apple committing to investing $1 billion a year in the film industry, with a particular focus on platform-based content. City Farm’s initial investment in the space is around $5 million.
While City Farm primarily operates in the food, import and export sector, it continues to expand its presence in the food industry and tap into promising markets. It has also joined forces with an experienced production company and is set to launch its first artistic project by the end of the year.
City Farm’s approach to investing doesn’t just focus on financial gain. They aim to turn true stories with social and historical dimensions into cinematic productions that foster cultural awareness and inspire younger generations. City Farm aims to create meaningful content that reflects values, practices, and thought leadership, rather than pursuing short-term profits.
Overall, CityFarm’s total investment is $250 million, including the company’s annual transportation sales and related assets.
