A video going viral shows the cobra struggling with a bottle of cough syrup in its mouth.
A video of a cobra struggling to dislodge a bottle of cough syrup it had swallowed has sparked a debate on social media about responsible waste disposal and littering. According to a post shared on X by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nada (@susantananda3), the incident took place in Bhubaneswar where a snake helpline volunteer rescued the reptile.
In the video, the cobra is seen in a damp spot as rescuers try to remove a bottle of syrup from its mouth. A second video shows the cobra being freed with the help of staff as people clap and praise Lord Shiva. Nanda wrote, “A cobra in Bhubaneswar had swallowed a bottle of cough syrup and was struggling to spit it out. A Snake Helpline volunteer gently spread its lower jaws to free the rim of the bottle, saving a precious life. Kudos.”

Thanks Susanta for sharing and raising awareness,” one user commented, reacting to the video, which was shared on July 3 and has been viewed more than 129,000 times. “That’s why there needs to be strict rules in place not to litter especially in and around protected areas,” another wrote.
“Humans have caused so many problems for other living things on Earth. In fact, a small percentage of humanity has caused far more problems for our own species,” a third user wrote.
