Cracking an interview requires skill. While it’s impossible to cheat in a face-to-face interview, many candidates have cheated during online interviews. A video of an online interview from 2017 has gone viral again after the interviewer was caught lip-syncing with another person answering for the candidate.
The video shows only the interviewer’s screen showing the candidate, and the interviewer asks, “So, have you ever dealt with anything that was a trigger in your past experience?”
The candidate is surprised by the question and answers “yes,” but then his lips stop moving and someone can be heard answering the question. The candidate then attempts to lip-sync to the person answering for him, but fails spectacularly.
“Wait a second! I don’t think that’s you speaking. Someone else is talking here and you’re just lip syncing. I can also hear the candidate sitting in front of me. I heard you! I clearly heard you! The other candidate is talking and you’re speaking in a low voice,” the interviewer says.
X, using the handle @MallikarjunaNH, shared the video and wrote, “Lip syncing during an interview. Guess which state this hardworking candidate is from.”

The video has been viewed over 1 million times and has generated a lot of reactions. Many X users shared their experiences of being scammed for interviews. One user wrote, “It’s not just lip syncing, there are many other problems I’ve seen in my life. One of my sources came to the US and couldn’t even speak English. Basic English. It was difficult to communicate. Also, some people are charging $500 per interview to do the interview for them. They have no ethics.”
Another user wrote, “There were a few people like this when I was interviewing and I caught them.”
“They even falsify report cards. They will do anything to get into America,” responded a third user.
