press release

MEMPHIS, Tenn., June 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Between approximately March 14, 2024 and March 15, 2024, Human Technology Inc. and its affiliates, Greer Orthotics & Prosthetics, Inc., Murphy’s Orthopedic & Footcare, Inc., and Hi-Tech Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. (“Human Technology and its affiliates”) experienced a data security incident. Human Technology and its affiliates became aware of the suspicious activity within their environment on March 15, 2024.

Maintaining the confidentiality, privacy and security of the information under our control is important to us. As such, upon learning of this activity, Human Technology and its affiliates immediately began an investigation into the matter and engaged forensic computer experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. Law enforcement agencies were also notified. This investigation was completed on or about May 31, 2024.

The investigation determined that an unauthorized individual accessed Human Technology and its affiliates’ computer systems. Information that may be affected includes contact information (such as name, address, date of birth), medical information, health insurance information, Social Security number, driver’s license or state ID, passport number, taxpayer identification number, payment card number, payment card expiration date, account number, and routing number.

At this time, there have been no reports of identity theft or fraud resulting from this incident, but as a precaution, Human Technology and its affiliates have notified individuals whose sensitive data may have been compromised. Human Technology and its affiliates mailed notification letters on June 28, 2024 offering affected individuals free identity theft protection and credit monitoring services.

Privacy and security are our top priorities, and Human Technology and its affiliates are taking additional steps to strengthen our policies and practices and implement additional safeguards, including EDR monitoring, to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

If you believe your information may have been affected by an incident, there are steps individuals can take to protect themselves. If you received a letter, read it carefully and take advantage of our free credit monitoring and identity protection services. Closely monitor your benefit statements from your health plan or healthcare provider, bank and credit card statements, credit reports and tax returns for suspicious activity. Report any suspicious activity immediately to your health plan, physician, financial institution and police.

To help those affected, Human Technology and its affiliates have established a dedicated call center to provide information to those who may have been affected. Individuals may call the call center toll-free at (866)-528-4805. The call center is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM CST.
