Starting Friday, stores began holding “closing down sales” with discounts of 30 to 70 percent.
“Despite making rapid and aggressive changes to the company’s structure and operations, Bob’s Stores was unable to secure the capital necessary to remain in operation,” Hilco Merchant Resources said in a press release.
The following stores will be closing in Connecticut:
- Ansonia: 409 Main Street
- Hamden: 2300 Dixwell Avenue
- Manchester: 179 Pavilions Drive
- Middletown: 416 East Main St.
- Milford: 195 Cherry Street
- Newington: 172 Kit Lane
- Simsbury: 504 Bushy Hill Road
- Southington: 835 Queen Street
- Waterbury: 910 Wolcott

All stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island will also be closed.
Gift cards and merchandise credits will be valid until stores close, officials said.
The closure is part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization filing filed on June 18, 2024.
Dave Burton, president of Bob’s Stores, said the company is grateful for the support of its vendors, suppliers, customers and employees over the years.
“We regret that our financial situation has forced us to liquidate Bob’s Stores. Bob’s has been a trusted presence in the local community for nearly 70 years and we know our customers remember us being there during important moments in their lives,” Burton said in a statement.
