The Carolina Panthers aren’t a top-10 offensive line in the league, but they might make the biggest improvement of any offensive line in the NFL this fall, which is both a criticism of last year’s group and a compliment to the free agent signings Dan Morgan made this offseason.
The Panthers offensive line ranks 20th in the league heading into 2024, according to Pro Football Focus’ Zoltan Budej.
“With a poor offensive line in 2023, the Panthers invested in the unit during the 2024 free agency period, signing guards Damien Lewis and Robert Hunt. Hunt will pair with tackle Taylor Moton on the right side, a perennially underrated offensive lineman, to form one of the best right guard-right tackle duos in the league.”
That’s a pretty fair assessment. This group has the potential to finish the year as a top-10 edge unit, but there are so many questions heading into the year that it’s hard to rank them higher than 20th. Austin Corbett should have no problem transitioning to center, but can he stay healthy? Following two straight knee injuries, this is a legitimate concern. Can Ikem Ekwonu finally live up to the expectations of being a top-10 pick and become a franchise left tackle? If Corbett and Ekwonu can fill their roles, the Panthers offense would be in for a big boost this fall.
