AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III aside, the biggest surprise trending on X/Twitter tonight was Vince McMahon. What’s interesting is that McMahon has nothing to do with All Elite Wrestling, so how did that happen? However, his biggest rival is former Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon.
As of now, the two parties have yet to finalize a direct deal. In a backstage video that aired during the Zero Hour undercard of Forbidden Door, Carlos Cabrera, a member of AEW’s Spanish announcing team, promoted a trios match, which featured a lineup of top luchadors including The Lucha Brothers, MÃstico and Titan.
Cabrera’s McMahon parallels
It was clear to everyone that Cabrera bore a resemblance to Vince McMahon in the eyes of the general public, and as a result his name quickly became a hot topic. A television/broadcast journalist by trade, Cabrera spent nearly 30 years with WWE, doing voice-over work for Spanish and hosting English shows, as well as hosting several content segments.
Naturally, words relating to AEW and Vince McMahon also trended online. Below is a screenshot from X/Twitter that shows the trends right around the time of “Forbidden Door.”

In other news, rumors have circulated in recent weeks that Vince McMahon’s son Shane is heading to AEW.
Will he be heading to AEW as bait for Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson? We can only speculate if Shane and Tony Khan are on the same page, but that remains to be seen. Thompson also claimed that Shane has been in contact with several AEW stars about a possible move.
New reports claim that Tony Khan hasn’t spoken to Shane McMahon, but that he was open to the idea. Shane has said that he’s not opposed to the concept, but Fightful Select reports that no official level talks have taken place with the AEW puppeteers. Shane McMahon is no longer working for WWE, and Jeremy also mentioned this in his report about Shane.
