Oregon fans should be thankful they got lucky, especially since coach Dan Lanning didn’t take the head coaching job at Alabama when Nick Saban retired earlier this year. Lanning had no interest in going to Tuscaloosa, instead wanting to stay in Eugene and build the program. And he’s doing just that.
On Saturday afternoon, Lanning acquired one of the best cornerbacks in the class of 2025, Dorian Belew, who is the No. 7 cornerback in his class and the No. 61 player overall, according to 247Sports. Lanning went to Texas, Belew’s home state, to snatch him from the Longhorns, as well as from Ohio State, one of the Big Ten’s new contenders and which was considered the favorite to land him.
