Six episodes in six days! The six-part documentary series “Start it Up” will premiere on YouTube on June 28th
Alexandria, Virginia, June 27, 2024 June 28th, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — The Entrepreneurship Organization (EO) is proud to announce the June 28 premiere of the third season of “Start it Up,” a series that follows student entrepreneurs as they compete for global recognition and awards. 12pm ET (E.T.), 6 pm Launching at Central European Summer Time (CEST) on GSEA’s YouTube channel, “Start it Up” is a six-part documentary series produced by EO that travels the globe to shine a spotlight on the world’s most promising young entrepreneurs who are launching their businesses while still at university. This unique series delves into the lives of student entrepreneurs in the final stages of EO’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) – from semi-finalists to finalists – and the stories behind their innovative and inspiring start-up businesses.

2024 Mark This marks the 18th year that EO has hosted the Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards. This year, top finalists came from 16 countries around the world, including: Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mexico, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, turkey and united states of americaStudent businesses represent diverse industries, including AI, healthcare, agriculture, computer science and financial services.
Students are scored with a weighting of 70% on the entrepreneur’s personal vision, courage and values, and 30% on their business concept and strengths, meaning GSEA is uniquely positioned to identify the entrepreneurial mindset and qualities that will enable young entrepreneurs to adapt, excel and stay focused for years to come.

To compete, students from 34 countries began pitching their businesses to existing EO members in 89 chapters about a year ago. Local winners advanced to a regionally hosted global quarterfinal. Throughout this process, each student was mentored by local EO members and supported throughout the competition. Of the 1,357 applicants, only 62 advanced to the global quarterfinals and only 20 to the semifinals. The semifinalists then competed for the top six finalist spots. The top 20 student entrepreneurs and their businesses will be featured in the Start It Up series.
Episodes of the six-part series will air daily from Friday, June 28th to Wednesday, July 3rd. 12pm ET, 6pm CESTThe Global Champion of EO’s 2024 Global Student Entrepreneurship Awards will be announced during the series’ season finale on YouTube on Wednesday, July 3. Start It Up was taped in May, and the Global Finals will be held on YouTube on Wednesday, July 3. Cape Town, South AfricaThe winner will receive: US$50,000Funded by the non-profit organization EO. The runner-up and third place winners US$25,000 and US$15,000Each.
Students who participated in the Global Finals received mentorship from EO members from around the world, helping them advance in the competition and grow their businesses.
