A Spanish influencer has left thousands of viewers cringing after drinking her best friend’s breast milk. In a stunt that was likely done to “buy” ratings, Nuria Blanco drank a glass of her best friend’s breast milk in front of the cameras.
Her reasons for doing so have also left people confused: “It was literally something I had to check off my list,” the 27-year-old lifestyle influencer told Jam Press about her decision to breastfeed.
The video, which has been viewed more than 600,000 times on TikTok and has been criticised by many as “gross”, shows the Barcelona-based influencer gulping down a glass of milk in one go as his friend and milk donor looks on with a smile.
“Hey, it’s delicious. It doesn’t taste like boobs,” Blanco says.
“I wonder what my eyes just saw,” one person wrote, while another added, “I miss life 20 years ago,” according to Jam Press.
Breastfeeding trends
Drinking breast milk has become a trend that has grown significantly in recent years among adults, and Blanco is certainly not the first to do so: In April of this year, Kourtney Kardashian made headlines when she declared that she had drunk her own breast milk.
“Feeling sick so had a glass of breast milk. Good night!” the 44-year-old reality TV star posted to her Instagram Stories.
In fact, according to USA Today, many health experts and fitness enthusiasts tout breast milk as “liquid gold,” a natural superfood with a ton of health benefits. Some claim that breast milk can build muscle, boost your immune system, and even prevent cancer, but there’s no scientific evidence to support this claim.
The online market for adult breast milk has also grown in recent years. According to a study published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, there are numerous websites available for people wanting to buy and sell breast milk. The study also points out that despite much hype about the benefits of breast milk, there is no evidence to support them. Instead, drinking raw, unpasteurized breast milk carries many risks and can expose consumers to a variety of infections.
