The University of Michigan football program is gaining momentum in its recruiting efforts, but there were a few players who started to move in the wrong direction on Tuesday.
One of those prospects is four-star defensive lineman Maxwell Roy. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound New Jersey native is ranked in the top 300 overall by the On3 Industry Rankings and visited the Michigan football team last weekend. The prospect was in Columbus the weekend before that.
While the Wolverines appear to have the lead among the experts, Wolverine guard EJ Holland, who was one of the first to predict Roy would attend Michigan football, has since changed his prediction to Ohio State, where he now has a 76 percent chance of attending, according to the On3 prediction machine.
According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, running back Jordan Davison is ranked in the top 100 for the class of 2025. He visited Michigan football two weeks ago and Ohio State last weekend, but a report from Steve Wiltfong of On3.com early Tuesday morning said Davison has remained with Michigan and Oregon.
The Wolverines just signed two running backs in the past two weeks, and UM would take Davison if they could get him, but Wiltfong has the Ducks as the favorites in expert projections, which is a change from Ohio State, which was tops according to the On3 projection machine.
Things can always change, as was the case with Roy, but these are two things that can probably be ignored when it comes to Michigan football.
