The New Orleans Saints entered the offseason with uncertainty surrounding their offensive line. Two starting spots are set (C and RG), but the remaining three (LT, LG, RT) are still up in the air.

The Saints are waiting on the status of elite right tackle Ryan Ramczyk, who will likely miss the 2024 season because of torn cartilage in his left knee, but have not yet named his replacement. First-round draft pick Talese Fuaga played right tackle in college but practiced as a left tackle during camp. Trevor Penning, who played left tackle in college and his first two seasons in the NFL, practiced as a right tackle.

Finally, the Saints will be competing for the starting left guard position after their former starter left the team in free agency.

The New Orleans Saints’ three-time Pro Bowl player left the team in free agency.

The Las Vegas Raiders signed Andrus Peat this offseason. The three-time Pro Bowl selection spent his first nine NFL seasons with the Saints, appearing in 111 games with 102 starts. He played primarily at left field but also saw time at left field, starting 11 games in 2023.

Four players will compete for the starting LG spot.

Lucas Patrick, Oli Udoh, Shane Lemieux and Nick Saldibelli are competing for the starting spot. Patrick is in his ninth year and has made 54 starts. Udoh is in his sixth year and has made 18 starts. Lemieux is in his fifth year and has made 12 starts. Finally, Saldibelli is in his second year and has made zero starts.

One player is currently in the lead.

The former fourth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints is currently at the top of the list.

Nick Saldiveli is currently competing for the starting LG spot. Saints Wire Details:

“Coming out of minicamp, Saldibelli looked like the front-runner to fill that vacancy. He participated in every first-team practice in the second open OTA practice. He remained that way until he was sidelined during minicamp with a hamstring/groin injury, but he isn’t expected to be sidelined through the summer, which suggests he has a lead in this battle.”

Will Nick Saldibelli be able to retain his starting LG role?
