BENGALURU: Twelve cutting-edge startups from India and the European Union showcased their innovative solutions in electric vehicle battery recycling at a special matchmaking event organised by Working Group II of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council.
“The shortlisted startups, which followed a rigorous process, span the entire battery recycling value chain, right from collection to extraction of valuable minerals. Indian participants include Lohum, LW3 Pvt Ltd., BatX Energies, Evergreen Lithium Recycling Pvt Ltd., Metastable Materials Pvt Ltd. and CENALL Waste Management LLP. EU startups featured include Alterity, Ecomet Refining, Eneris, Primobius, RockTech and Tozero,” a statement issued on Thursday said.
The event aimed to foster sustainable innovation, nurture economic ties and promote potential collaboration between India and the EU.The event began with opening remarks by the Ambassador of India to the EU and the Ambassador of the EU to India, followed by remarks by Chief Scientific Adviser Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood and EU Research and Innovation Director General Marc Lemaitre.
“The platform will bring together the best in recycling technologies and facilitate exchanges, networking and investments. The awarded exchange visit will provide greater insight into the EV ecosystem in both regions,” Prof Sood said.
Lemaitre emphasised the importance of the innovation-driven India-EU partnership and called it a “major carbon reduction win for our environment”.
Three startups from each side will be selected for a week-long market visit to the EU and India respectively, enabling direct stakeholder engagement, exploring collaboration opportunities and understanding the local market. The matchmaking event is a key activity of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council’s Working Group on Green and Clean Energy Technologies and reflects the commitment of both partners towards sustainable development.
