Manchester (Ga.) 5-star plus defensive lineman Justus Terry He became the second five-star player to decline. U.S.C. The decision was announced on Wednesday this week.
Terry has been with the team since transferring from the Trojans on March 24. Georgiahe had committed to the Trojans beginning in January 2023. His three-month commitment to the Trojans came as a surprise, so the decommitment wasn’t a huge shock, especially considering Terry visited multiple other programs this spring and summer without returning to USC.
There’s one school he’s been with ever since he committed to the Trojans: the Bulldogs, and Kirby Smart and his staff recruited Terry heavily even though he moved on to another program.
Then on Wednesday, shortly after Terry opted out of his contract, On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons recorded experts predicting the Bulldogs would land him a second time.
This, combined with projections from On3 VP of recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Georgia insider Jake Reuse, places the University of Georgia as a top contender in the Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
Georgia’s pursuit of Terry is relentless
“He was committed to the University of Georgia back in the day. He’s from Georgia and he got an offer from the University of Georgia before he even started high school and he’s got that connection. Now that this contract has opened up again, he’s going to start with the Bulldogs but he has to look at them as the team to beat,” Simmons said when making the pick.
Terry returned to Athens for his official visit on May 31. He has returned to the University of Georgia multiple times this year and plans to return in the fall.
“He stayed in close contact with the staff when he committed to USC. Neither team has been consistent, and UGA has made him a top priority. With their recent overtime visit to Athens, the school once again established itself as a top school,” Simmons added.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound player has also taken an official visit to Florida State and is scheduled to visit Alabama this weekend, but all paths to landing him appear to go through the Bulldogs.
According to the On3 industry rankings, a weighted average utilizing all four major recruiting media companies, Terry is the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2025 class.
