The Texas football team is currently very focused on recruiting players for the classes of 2025 and 2026. Texas is looking to finish off their June recruiting efforts on a high after adding one player from each class last week.
Last week, the Longhorns landed Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall three-star cornerback Caleb Chester for the class of 2025. Chester committed to Texas as the first defensive back to sign for the class of 2025 after taking an official visit to Austin in early June.
The Longhorns then acquired elite five-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell on June 17 as a standout player in the 2026 class. By acquiring Bell earlier this week, head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Millwee gained the player they want to anchor their team in the 2026 class.
With the Longhorns making these two commitments over multiple cycles over the past week or so, they had a pretty big official visit weekend for the class of 2025. The culmination of all these events in recruiting should see Texas continue to rise with each cycle throughout the summer.
In this article, I want to talk a bit about the big recruiting push the Longhorns made over the weekend, and there’s also one recruiting storyline that’s unavoidable regarding the Texas top pick who took an official visit in the past few days.
Here are four key rookies who took official visits over the weekend and are rumored to be joining the Longhorns.
One recruiting story that came out of the big official visit weekend was Texas’ commitment to elite five-star wide receiver DaCorine Moore out of Duncanville (TX) Texas, which was the talk of 40th Street. Texas made Moore a priority during her official visit last weekend, spending time with coach Sarkisian and other coaches, especially head coach Chris Jackson.
The atmosphere surrounding this acquisition over the past 24 hours suggests the Longhorns have further solidified their lead in the race to acquire Moore this summer.
As mentioned on this site today, reports from IT indicate that Texas is leading the charge in this recruiting due to two big reasons: the move to the SEC and last weekend’s official visit: Texas was already in a great position with Moore’s official visit last weekend.
The fact that he and his family have had great experiences and want to play in the SEC makes Texas a tough school to beat here.
