UNITAR is inviting applications for its 2024 Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Promoting Food Security and Economic Development in Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon training programme for young entrepreneurs aged 18-45 from Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon. Participants will learn the fundamentals and knowledge of entrepreneurship and acquire advanced skills to achieve economic development and combat food insecurity.
Programme Stages

- Phase 1 (July-October 2024): Approximately 100 participants will undergo online training on key entrepreneurial topics, such as entrepreneurship and agribusiness fundamentals, to gain the knowledge and skills to identify alternative livelihood opportunities with high entrepreneurial potential in their context. Participants will complete self-paced online courses, peer-to-peer discussions, assignments, and webinars with local and international experts in the field.
- Phase 2 (October-December 2024): Approximately 20 top participants will undergo training on entrepreneurial tools, techniques and best practices to develop solutions to food security challenges. Participants will design and implement innovative and sustainable businesses and projects that address urgent needs arising from food insecurity, such as climate-smart agriculture and aquaculture practices to counter environmental constraints.
- Phase 3 (December 2024 – March 2025): Approximately 10 outstanding companies will develop actionable blueprints for new companies/projects with great potential for job creation and resilience building in the agri-food sector. This phase will include a mentorship and coaching element conducted online, with potential intensive workshops held online or in person. Details are yet to be finalized.

Qualifications
The program is open to aspiring entrepreneurs in Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon who:
- Be passionate about being successful and making a positive impact in your community.
- Excellent spoken and written English skills
- Be committed to completing the program.
- Work experience or interest in agribusiness and food security, or general entrepreneurship.
- Be between 18 and 45 years old
- A minimum of 2-4 hours of participation per week for the duration of the program is required.
