One male juror who spoke to CNN said the first thing the jurors did when they first began deliberations Monday afternoon was to vote.
The jury was split, with six in favor of convicting Hunter Biden on federal firearms charges and six initially favoring an acquittal, jurors said.
When the jury returned Tuesday morning, the next vote was 11-1, with 11 saying they thought the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt, a juror told CNN’s Hannah Rabinowitz.
The other jurors then focused on the one defendant who dissented, reaching a unanimous verdict, the man said. Over the next few hours, the jury debated elements of each crime until the last juror agreed they should return a guilty verdict, the man said.
The juror did not reveal any of his or her politics but voiced support for the Bidens when it came to addiction.
Speaking to CNN after returning their guilty verdicts, the three jurors said they believed they had no choice but to convict Hunter Biden, but questioned whether criminal charges should have been brought against the president’s son.
The case “seems like a waste of taxpayer money,” one female juror told CNN.
Another male juror said the trial was “a little frustrating because it felt like we weren’t getting the full story.”
