Nigel Farage appears to have had at least one object thrown at him while campaigning in South Yorkshire.
The Reform UK leader posted a video to X (formerly Twitter) that appears to show something being thrown at him while he was on a bus in Barnsley on Tuesday.
“I will not be intimidated or threatened by a violent left-wing mob that hates our country,” he wrote about the incident.
South Yorkshire Police said they had arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of breaching the peace.
“The man is believed to have thrown an object from a nearby construction site,” police said in a statement.
“They want to stop my campaigning. That will never happen,” Mr Farage added.
A video posted to his X account showed a man in a red jacket throwing an object from a construction site before being stopped by what appeared to be a construction worker.
The man was subsequently detained by police and remains in custody.
The incident happened as Farage was addressing a group of anti-racism protesters from his car.
Reform UK supporters and anti-racism protesters shouted accusations at each other as a crowd gathered around the bus in the town centre.
Mr Farage had been warned by police not to leave the bus.
He had been touring Barnsley and had just left Hoyland, where he received a warm welcome, and he popped into a hairdressers where he posed with staff, joking that he had gotten his nails painted.
Mr Farage also chatted to shoppers and, standing near a market stall selling eggs, joked that after being doused in a milkshake last week, he didn’t want to be hit with an egg next.
Last week, Mr Farage had a banana milkshake thrown at him during a campaign event in Clacton.
During an election campaign in Newcastle in 2019, a banana and salted caramel milkshake was thrown at him.
