A billionaire investment banker was filmed punching a woman in the face, knocking her to the ground on a New York street on Saturday evening.
Jonathan Kaye, 52, was seen delivering a violent overhand right to an unnamed woman in Brooklyn. Kaye lives in a $4 million, four-bedroom townhouse in the upscale Park Slope neighborhood. It is unclear what sparked the confrontation.
Mr. Kaye works as a managing director at Moelis & Company, a major investment bank with offices in Midtown Manhattan.
The video shows the woman being thrown to the floor by the force of the punch and a bystander rushing over to help but is unable to help her. Some bystanders are seen calling Kay an “idiot” and telling him to “fuck off.” Kay attracts their attention for a moment, then abruptly walks away.
A spokesperson for the bank confirmed to DailyMail.com that the man seen in the viral video was Mr Kay and said they had launched an investigation.

As the 12-second video continues to gain attention online, a representative for Morris said in a statement: “We are aware that one of our employees was involved in a serious incident in Brooklyn on June 8th.”
“We are taking this matter very seriously and are investigating,” she added.
According to his profile on Morris’ website, Kaye earned his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and graduated cum laude from Duke University Law School.
Another profile detailing Kaye’s accomplishments in a Jewish alumni organization proudly noted that he had been with the company for 10 years and had helped Morris during that time.Becoming a market leader with over 125 transactions with a combined enterprise value of over $100 billion.”
Previously, he worked as Marketing Director at Citigroup, the third largest bank in the United States.
He currently oversees 10 verticals within Moelis’ business services division and manages “a team of dedicated bankers and an extensive network of relationships with both strategic companies and private equity investors,” according to his resume.
Additionally, he sits on the company’s management committee, demonstrating his standing in the financial industry.
Morris is already investigating the incident, but at the time of writing it is unclear whether it has been reported to the NYPD. DailyMail.com has reached out to him for comment.
Meanwhile, the footage is brief and choppy, but it does show Kaye slamming the woman to the floor and then turning towards the camera.
Kay left a wet stain on the back of her blazer, bag in one hand, and walked away.
In one clip, with captions overlaid on the footage, a user wrote: “This guy punched me in the face today and broke my nose.” [He also] I hit my friend[sic] His arm…can anyone find him?’
The background to the fight is still unclear.
