CAIRO – June 9, 2024: The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) recently held the inaugural meeting of its recently launched Advisory Committee for Entrepreneurship and Startups, highlighting its commitment to improving the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The meeting was chaired by GAFI CEO Hossam Heiba and Central Entrepreneurship Director General Hossam Abdel Kader, and was attended by key players from the private sector.
The unit aims to facilitate communication with entrepreneurs, enable GAFI to better understand their challenges and consider proposals to strengthen Egypt’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
GAFI opened the unit’s headquarters in May and launched its digital platform.
Hiba affirmed the authority’s commitment to work with the Advisory Council to foster a culture of entrepreneurship within government organizations, promising to work in partnership with all stakeholders to provide the necessary support to the sector and foster partnerships with developed countries.
The council, comprised of exclusive representatives from startups and the entrepreneurial world, was led by Mohamed Fahmy, co-founder of Logic Management Consulting Group, and included Samir Al Aleili, Chairman of the Egyptian Angel Investors Association (Malaikah-EGYBAN), and Ahmed Tarek, Chairman of Allianz Middle East.
Fahmi revealed plans to finalize the council’s action plan in the near future, which will include recommendations to strengthen Egypt’s entrepreneurial environment and align entrepreneurial activity with the development strategies outlined in the Egypt Vision 2030.
