Manchester City’s former financial adviser Stephen Bolson has said he faces 115 charges for allegedly breaching Premier League financial rules and that the club could face relegation if found guilty.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said at the end of April that the league’s case against Manchester City over alleged breaches of financial rules “will be resolved in the near future.”
City won the Premier League title in May, beating West Ham 3-1. On the last day of the seasonThis is the second time since the Premier League made 115 allegations against him in February last year.
I was asked if I was second. Manchester City Masters said it would damage European football leagues if teams won with unpaid fines, adding: “The Football Association should not start cherry-picking teams that want to win the league.”
“The important thing is that the risk remains until the very last day. No one knows where we will be on May 19.”
Speaking at the Europa League general assembly, Masters added: “Obviously I cannot comment on this matter. A date has already been set and it will be resolved in the near future so I cannot comment further.”
And now former Manchester City financial adviser Bolson claims that if the charges were proven, City would “at the very least finish with relegation”, although City strongly deny any wrongdoing.
Bolson said: Talk Sports“It’s on a completely different level. [to Everton and Nottingham Forest].
“If these charges are proven, they will surely end in at least a demotion. There are indications of a conspiracy that has, in effect, spanned a decade.”
“If proven, this is a very serious matter. No one would dispute that. City will be adamant that these are extremely serious allegations.”
