Donald Trump has suggested he may jail his political opponents if he is re-elected president in November.
Trump’s comments came days after a New York jury found him guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments he made to adult film actresses before the 2016 election.
“I said, ‘Wouldn’t that be a terrible thing to do? Wouldn’t that be a terrible thing to put the president’s wife and a former secretary of state, think about it, a former secretary of state, the president’s wife in prison? Wouldn’t that be a terrible thing to do? But they want to do it,'” Trump told conservative news site Newsmax on Tuesday.
“So it’s a very scary path that they’re leading us down, and it’s very possible that the same thing could happen to them.”
He added: “Does that mean the next president will do the same to them? That’s the real question.”
