“Clean Energy: A Vernon County Landscape” is the theme for the next Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 12, at the Food Enterprise Center, 1201 N. Main St. in Viroqua. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m., and the program begins at 6 p.m.
The speaker will be Alicia Lineberger, Executive Director of the Vernon County Energy District. Lineberger began her work in the renewable energy field in 2002 when she founded the nonprofit Seventh Generation Energy Systems in Madison. She moved to Viroqua and founded Ethos Renewable Power in 2013, bringing solar, battery storage and other electrification technologies to southwestern Wisconsin. In 2020, she and other community members founded the nonprofit Vernon County Energy District to advance electrification, decarbonization and locally owned renewable energy.
She will discuss the benefits and incentives of generating your own power at home or work, as well as the innovation and entrepreneurial opportunities that clean energy offers. According to the press release, entrepreneurs interested in meaningful work that addresses rising energy costs and also reduces carbon emissions will find this emerging energy sector rewarding and enriching.
The I&E Club is run jointly by the Vernon Economic Development Association and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension and meets the second Wednesday of each month.
