An elderly woman who was pronounced dead in hospice care was reportedly revived after being transported to a funeral home. According to reports, funeral home staff found the 74-year-old woman breathing and performed CPR. The woman had been pronounced dead two hours prior to this incident.
“She had been seen by a doctor within the last seven days, the doctor was willing to sign the death certificate, there was nothing suspicious at the time of her death, all of that is consistent,” a Lancaster County, Nebraska, sheriff’s deputy told CNN.
The Daily Mail also shared an Instagram video showing the sheriff’s office providing information about the incident: “Constance Glantz, 74, was pronounced dead while in hospice care and transported to a funeral home in Nebraska,” the outlet reported.
“As staff placed her on the table and were about to begin processing her body, they realized she was still breathing. Staff began CPR before transporting Glantz to a local hospital. The sheriff’s office says they have not found any criminal intent at the nursing home, but the investigation is ongoing,” the news outlet added.

People responded to the post with a variety of comments, with one person writing: “That’s why graves used to have bells next to the headstone and they would hang from the coffin.”
Another added: “What on earth?! In this day and age?”
A third added: “How can this happen?”
“At this time we have not found any criminal intent on the part of the care home, but the investigation is ongoing,” Chief Deputy Commissioner Ben Houchin told CNN, adding that “the care home and everyone else will be investigating what happened and will look at whether any new procedures need to be put in place and whether those were all followed.”
