LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis arrived in Baton Rouge with the big task of reshuffling the Tigers’ position groups heading into the 2024 season.
Coach Davis has assembled a strong team for the fall, signing five-star recruit Dominique McKinley from Louisiana and two transfer students.
But Davis is looking to the future, which begins with the 2025 recruiting cycle. A talented recruiter, he is starting to make his mark on “The Trail.”
LSU welcomed four top defensive line targets over the weekend in Damien Shanklin (5th EDGE), Zion Williams (coveted DL), Dylan Battle (3-star DL) and Brandon Brown (4-star DL).
Brown, who has committed to the University of Texas Longhorns, arrived in Baton Rouge on Friday for a multi-day visit and got the chance to soak up the views of Death Valley with a group of other 2025 standouts.
Players taking his official visit included DJ Pickett (No. 1 CB), Kalik Lockett (No. 2 WR) and Jayme French (No. 4 WR), and it was a chance for Brown to build relationships with some of LSU’s top targets.
Now the commotion is beginning to die down.
After the visit, LSU stepped away from the other teams and began its journey towards joining the SEC today.
Shortly after the visit, On3 Sports scouting analyst Billy Embody went on record predicting that LSU would steer Brown away from committing to the University of Texas.

Brown visited Baton Rouge with his family over the weekend, and sources say the Tigers are certainly on a roll.
But it will be a late-game battle for LSU to land the coveted defensive lineman.
Brown has official visits scheduled to Tennessee and Texas, but plans to visit one or two more schools before wrapping up.
For now, LSU is starting to move in the right direction to land the four-star defensive lineman, and expert projections are starting to register.
With official visit season in full swing, LSU Country will bring you the latest updates on the Tigers’ recruiting efforts with their top targets.
