Global brokerage firm Jefferies has highlighted the potential for the industrial sector to benefit from political continuity, particularly if Prime Minister Narendra Modi retains power. Among their top picks for stocks that could rally by up to 33% in this scenario are HAL, L&T, and ABB India.
The steep fall is due to the results so far falling short of the exit polls which the market had discounted yesterday. If BJP doesn’t get a majority on its own there will be disappointment and this is getting reflected in the market. Also it is possible that Modi 3.O may not be as reform-oriented as the market expected and may turn more welfare- oriented. This is getting reflected in the strength in FMCG stocks.

India’s market regulatory authority is urging companies planning to launch initial public offerings (IPOs) to disclose more details in order to expedite the process, as per a communication sent to investment banks last week.The regulator has requested 31 additional disclosures, with key emphasis on divulging information related to potential conflicts of interest involving management, directors, major shareholders, subsidiaries, and third-party service providers.A copy of the letter has been reviewed by Reuters.According to a regulatory source who spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has observed deficiencies in the information provided by companies in their IPO documents, resulting in approval delays.”If a preliminary offer document includes these (extra) disclosures, it will undergo faster clearance,” the source stated.An email inquiry sent to a SEBI representative did not yield an immediate response.A senior investment banker, who has received the communication from SEBI, noted that the regulator’s move to request more information comes ahead of an anticipated rise in IPOs from firms backed by private equity this year.
