Stock market live updates: The Sensex and Nifty soared to record highs today (June 3) after a majority of exit polls predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA is likely to win over 350 of the 543 seats in India’s Lok Sabha elections. The Sensex surged 2,778 points, or about 4 percent, to hit an all-time high of 76,738.89. The Nifty 50 surged 808 points, or about 4 percent, to hit an all-time high of 23,338.70.
Most exit polls predicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NDA would win more than 350 seats, predicting a historic third term for the party. Three exit polls – India Today-My Axis India, India TV-CNX and News24-Todays Chanakya – had predicted the NDA would win more than 400 seats.
