After signing Ferrari flags and smilingly responding to fans’ calls to “go to Ferrari”, Adrian Newey has reignited rumours of a move to the Scuderia.
Newey will become a free agent after the first quarter of 2025, at which point he will leave the Red Bull team, where he has been in charge since 2006 and has overseen the design of seven title-challenging cars, six of which have been double title-winning.
Will Adrian Newey move to Ferrari?
Many teams, both high and low on the grid, are expected to be interested in signing Newey after his Red Bull career ends, but the team most likely to sign him is Ferrari, who have made several unsuccessful attempts to bring him to Maranello.

And the speculation intensified at the Monaco Grand Prix, where Newey was photographed wearing a Red Bull uniform and signing merchandise for fans, including Ferrari flags.
“Go Ferrari!” a fan yelled, to which Newey replied with a beaming smile.
Did Adrian Newey sign with Ferrari in Monaco?
If Newey were to move to Ferrari at the end of his tenure at Red Bull, he would team up with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, but both drivers have previously said working together was an unfulfilled goal of their F1 careers.
And according to former McLaren mechanic and BBC commentator Mark Priestley, who was in attendance at the Monaco Grand Prix, there were strong rumours in the paddock that Newey had signed for Ferrari.

“There have been a lot of rumours about Adrian Newey signing a contract with Ferrari,” he said in a YouTube video.
“There’s nothing concrete on this, nothing official, but a couple of people have told me they’ve heard with some authority that the deal may have been done. Maybe it was done this weekend in Monaco when Adrien was with Red Bull. So, probably, there will be an announcement on this shortly.”
“It is also possible that Lewis Hamilton and his management team played a key role in getting this deal done. When Lewis joins Ferrari next year, we would really love to have Adrian in the team.”
“Again, stay tuned. Nothing concrete yet, but there are big rumors going around.”
Newey-designed F1 cars have won a total of 25 titles, and that number could rise to 27 by the end of F1 2024.
