Colorado Mesa University celebrates entrepreneurship each spring with Entrepreneurship Day (E-Day). The annual event showcases the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and connecting students with industry leaders.
Sponsor, Entrepreneurship Day 2024 Baird Private Wealth Management, The keynote speech was delivered by Destination Hospitality Group Founder and CEO Phillips Armstrong Jr. With over 25 years of industry experience, Armstrong embodies the transformative power of authentic human connection and hospitality.
Armstrong’s keynote address, “Hospitality Is Our Purpose,” explored the profound impact of authentic customer hospitality and how it impacts the world today.
Born and raised near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Armstrong began his hospitality career at the age of 14 as a server at a local Italian restaurant. Today, his Destination Hospitality Restaurant Group encompasses a portfolio of acclaimed restaurants as well as private event catering and consulting services, all rooted in a culture that prioritizes employee well-being.
In addition to Armstrong’s speech, the E-Day also featured sessions focused on CMU’s student entrepreneurs, combining classroom theory with real-world experience. Attendees had the opportunity to hear about student innovations and entrepreneurial endeavors. The elevator pitch competition was a true highlight of the E-Day, where student entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas to the attendees. The audience voted for the best business plan, and the winners received cash prizes to help seed their entrepreneurial endeavors.
