Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has launched an online undergraduate course in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship. The last application period for this course at IIM Bangalore is June 15. The three-year Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship (BBA DBE) programme integrates digital technology, business management and entrepreneurship to prepare leaders for the digital business world.
The curriculum focuses on digital strategy and entrepreneurship practice, offering live sessions, mentorship, and hands-on projects for practical experience. The school aims to launch its courses with around 1,000 students. The program consists of around 60 courses run by more than 50 faculty members.
Equal Opportunity
The program also aims to provide equal opportunities for future learners from all backgrounds and regions, allowing them to continue their current activities without having to relocate or disrupt their lives. This first-of-its-kind program combines digital and face-to-face interactions to build community and foster professional growth in a dynamic environment. While the courses are primarily digital, students are required to take proctored exams at their respective exam centers.
The programme is expected to begin from September 2024, said IIM-B Director Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan.“IIM-B launched this programme to address the declining Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education (27.1%), which is relatively low compared to developed countries. A low GER indicates that a significant percentage of the youth needs to pursue higher education. Many of them require industry-relevant and up-to-date education programmes locally and are unable to migrate to cities for their education. This online BBA programme fills this gap by providing an accessible education that students can pursue from anywhere,” he said.
Eligibility Criteria
Students who have secured a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the recognized board examinations for general category and NC-OBC and EWS category candidates and have a pass certificate from a recognized class X, XII board or equivalent board. On the other hand, for SC, ST and PwD (40% disability) candidates, 55% marks or equivalent CGPA is the mandatory eligibility criteria. Also, the program is currently open only to Indian nationals. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their aptitude test and class 12 marks in an online aptitude test.
