Fans took to Twitter/X to pay tribute to the late YouTube star Technoblade, celebrating the influencer’s 25th birthday with an inspiring hashtag.
Technoblade was a well-known Minecraft content creator with over 16 million subscribers on YouTube. In July 2021, the influencer revealed to his fans that he had been diagnosed with sarcoma, a type of cancer.
A year later, in June 2022, Technoblade’s father uploaded his final video to his son’s YouTube channel, breaking the news that he had died of cancer at the age of 23.
Two years later, fans are celebrating Technoblade’s achievements with the hashtag X, which is currently trending on social media platforms in honour of his 25th birthday.
tag #Technoblade25 The campaign began when the YouTuber’s father posted asking fans to celebrate his son’s life on his birthday, June 1. “So tomorrow (June 1st) post something that remembers Technoblade! Whether it’s fan art, a video, lighting a candle, anything is fine,” the father wrote.
Fans came out in droves to fulfill his request, and other famous creators who were friends with Technoblade also shared funny stories and memories of the YouTuber.
“The first time I spoke to Technoblade was the morning of an important science exam,” wrote YouTube star TommyInnit. “I was doing horrible during the exam and all I could think about was what I’d talked to Technoblade about. He truly was my hero.”
“It’s nice to think that Technothepig is having tea with Sun Tzu and other great philosophers and calling us nerds,” one fan wrote alongside an illustration of the YouTuber. “But oh man, I really miss him in this world.”
Still, some fans are calling on Tekno to reach 17 million subscribers on his channel by his birthday, a goal he is just shy of reaching as of this writing.
This is just the latest tribute fans have paid to Technoblade in the two years since his passing. In 2023, his father created the “One of Us Foundation” to perpetuate his son’s memory. In 2022, YouTube uploaded a video honoring the influencer’s career, celebrating some of his biggest moments since he started his channel nine years ago.
And that’s not all: Minecraft also added a tribute to the YouTuber to the game’s launcher, with the opening photo featuring him wearing Technoblade’s signature crowned mascot.
