LAHORE: Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that promotion of entrepreneurship is necessary for women empowerment and economic stability of the country.
He was speaking at the 15th Postgraduate Students Conference organised by Punjab University Institute of Education and Research on the theme “Entrepreneurship Education” at Waheed Shaheed Hall. The conference was attended by Punjab University Chancellor Prof. Khalid Mahmood, IER Director Prof. Tariq Mehmood, conference secretary Iffat Alvi, senior faculty members, researchers and students.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said that in Bangladesh, India and Malaysia, women are active in all fields to develop the country. He said students must learn how to use technology to promote entrepreneurship. He said 64% of Pakistan’s population is youth and if they are given skills along with education, they can take the country much further. He said that to improve the quality of education in the country, education needs to be depoliticized and bring about changes in the curriculum and education system. He said IER is the best institute in Pakistan that is providing true teacher leadership to schools.
Prof. Khalid Mahmood said that at the undergraduate level in PU, entrepreneurship subjects have been made compulsory in all faculties and the establishment of business incubation centres has also been utilised. He said students should be attracted towards such education and encouraged to become employers instead of job seekers.Prof. Tariq Mehmood said the aim of holding the conference was to enlighten students about various aspects of their studies.
