A video was posted to social media of Boston 25 News anchor Vanessa Welch accidentally swallowing a fly that had landed on her eyelashes during a segment.
In this video, Welch, Unaware of this, while speaking live on air, a bug falls from her lower eyelash and she appears to swallow it.
X, under the handle @nexta_tv, shared the video and wrote, “On Boston 25, the news anchor showed true professionalism as a journalist. She swallowed a fly and carried on air as if nothing had happened.” The text of the video read, “I was watching the news and this happened to the anchor.”

The video in question is 67,000 views Social media users praised her. One user praised her professionalism, writing: “So professional, she had no reaction or fear at all. If there had been more people, they would never have been able to do what she did. Probably a moment she will never forget,” while another commented: “Poor woman! This is the fate of this profession! It comes with the good and the bad!”
“I wonder why she swallowed a fly,” a third user wrote.
In 2020, a Florida TV reporter found out she had cancer after a viewer noticed a lump on her neck. According to CNN, one viewer email read, “Hi. I saw the news. I’m concerned about the lump on my neck. Please get your thyroid checked. It reminds me of my neck. My neck was cancer. Take care of yourself.”
