Seiji ate a beetle before he ate a burrito..
Japanese reporter Seiji Nakazawa He doesn’t have an adventurous palate. He loves a good kebab and a while back I taught him how to make Lebanese hashwee, which he loved. Who can forget the time Seiji went to a restaurant and ate a whole beetle?
So, I was a bit shocked when I found out. Until a few days ago, Seiji had never eaten a burrito in his life..
Seiji is heard It was his first time trying a burrito and he only had a vague idea of what it was, but Mexican food is one of the harder ethnic foods to find in Japan, and Seiji’s experience with Mexican food is limited to tacos, so it didn’t appeal to him personally. “I like burgers,” is how I succinctly sum up my taco taste tests so far..
Still, he was curious about burritos but didn’t know where to find them. But it turns out the opportunity was right in front of him a few weeks ago.

Recently, Seiji Shibuya district of TokyoAnd in Shibuya, by coincidence, Taco BellSince moving, Seiji has passed by the store many times, but he has never been inside. Judging from the name of the store, Sage thought Taco Bell only sold tacos. And, in keeping with his aforementioned love of burgers, he frequents the McDonald’s branch of Shibuya Taco Bell, located on the same street.

But while out for lunch last week, Seiji saw the long line at McDonald’s and wasn’t sure his rumbling tummy could last that long. So, on a whim, he popped into a less crowded Taco Bell, walked up to the counter, looked at the menu board, and what he saw was…

…Burritos! While it may be common knowledge to many people, the fact that you can get a burrito at Taco Bell came as a surprise to Seiji. Intrigued and hungry, he immediately Beef Cheese Core Burrito combo.

Let’s see what he said:

“Wow, it’s a burrito! Let’s see what’s in that tortilla.”

“When you take a bite, the cheese just overflows. It’s full of cheese! And it uses two different types. It also contains minced meat, and the flavor of that mixes with the flavor of the cheese, creating a really rich and dynamic taste.”

“I didn’t realize there was so much rice in it, so it was very filling! When I first saw it on the menu board, I thought it would be a light snack, but it was actually quite filling. But you can imagine that when you hold the burrito in your hand. It’s quite heavy. The concept is simple: stuff a tortilla with cheese, meat, and rice, and wrap it up. Plus, it’s easy to eat. I love the taste of burgers, but when I eat them, the filling always spills out of the bun. I feel like the burrito design solves that problem perfectly.”

“Perfect! This burrito has everything I want in a fast food/street food. I should never have gone to McDonald’s all this time.”
But despite his enthusiasm for the Beef Cheese Core Burrito, Seiji would soon discover that it wasn’t perfect.I was very satisfied with my first burrito experience. He went back to Taco Bell the next day, and again the day after that. He’s tried other burritos on the menu, but says the chicken burrito is now his favorite.

Ultimately, Seiji’s only complaint about this edible revelation is that there is no Taco Bell branch in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, where SoraNews24 is headquartered, so he can’t have lunch there. But if he finds himself craving a midday burrito, the Mexican Embassy’s map of Mexican restaurants in Japan might help him find one close to his office.
