The Google Doodle on Sunday marked the final match of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“This Doodle celebrates the final match of the 2024 Indian Premier League season, also known as IPL17 or TATA IPL 2024, which will be held in Chennai. This year’s tournament is full of excitement and many are eagerly waiting to see which team will win,” the Google Doodle description reads.
“The tournament began with 10 teams from across India divided into two groups. Each team played a total of 14 matches — seven at home and seven away. After the group stage, the top four teams advanced to the high-stakes Qualifier and Eliminator Stage. Perseverance and teamwork have put both teams at the top to face off in the IPL17 Final. Best of luck to them!” he added.
The graffiti features an illustration of a wicket with bats, balls and stamps arranged in a way that spells out “Google”.On either side of the pitch, fans of KKR and SRH are seen cheering on their respective teams.
On Saturday, the official IPL account shared a series of pictures of KKR’s Shreyas Iyer and SRH’s Pat Cummins sitting with the trophy at Chennai’s Marina Beach, with the caption: “Two captains. One trophy. And a hectic night in Chennai. All eyes are on the #Final.”
