Qcells solar investment brings economic boost to Georgia

Qcells, a leading provider of clean energy solutions, has released new data showing the significant economic benefits of solar manufacturing investments in Georgia. According to a report from the Cartersville-Bartow County Economic Development Agency, Qcells’ manufacturing operations in Georgia generate significant economic impact each year.

These figures underscore Qcells’ commitment to U.S. manufacturing and growing presence in Georgia. The company’s ambitious $2.5 billion investment, announced in January 2023, led to its expansion in Dalton and the creation of a fully integrated solar supply chain in Cartersville.

Qcells recently completed an expansion of its Dalton facility, creating an additional 510 clean energy jobs. Additionally, the company has begun manufacturing solar panels at its Cartersville facility, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Once operational, the Cartersville facility will contribute to a complete silicon-based solar supply chain, including ingots, wafers, cells and finished products. Panel production.

In Georgia alone, Qcells’ annual solar production capacity is expected to reach 8.4 GW, enough to power approximately 1.3 million homes annually.

Beyond Georgia, Qcells is supporting solar manufacturing by investing throughout the solar supply chain, including reviving a previously dormant factory in Moses Lake, Washington, to produce polysilicon used in U.S.-made solar panels at its Cartersville facility.

Qcells’ efforts have garnered support from federal and state authorities. U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock He praised Qcells’ contributions to Georgia’s clean energy economy and emphasized the importance of American solar manufacturing.
