1. It’s been called “The Nightmare at 37,000 Feet.” A Boeing 777 Singapore Airlines passenger jet encountered severe turbulence while flying from London to Singapore, resulting in a scene full of blood, screams and fear. The plane rapidly descended and pulled up several times over the course of about 90 seconds before the pilot regained control. One person was killed and several others were injured.
2. If you haven’t seen the images and photos of the insane hail damage that hit Yuma County, Colorado yesterday, it’s insane and is all over social media.
3. Wichita fireworks rules are changing again. For the second year in a row, you can now purchase and use aerial fireworks, but the period in which they can be used has been slightly shortened. Don’t be a “negative Nancy” – but that’s not the point. People buy what they want, shoot it off when they want, and there’s little you can do about it. This is just my opinion.
4. Good news for your summer travels, President Biden announced: Department of Energy announced it will release 1 million barrels of gasoline from its reserves in the Northeast in 100,000 barrel increments this summer to lower gasoline prices. Great, the Buc-ees now have more money to spend.
5. Don’t say you’re slacking off at work. No, the new word is “quiet vacation.” That’s right, many millennials in the U.S. are unable to use all of their paid time off due to deadlines, pressure from their employers, and more. Instead, they take a “quiet vacation.” That is, we schedule email sending times, stay logged in to Teams, and use other tricks to make it seem like we’re working, but in reality, we’re actually recharging and working and living life. I’m taking time for myself to find that balance. Or you can just close the door and take a nap in your office, like someone here at the radio station does.
