The England manager opted to leave out several players who had been consistently called up during his time in charge, with Henderson and Rashford not playing.
Henderson has fallen down the pecking order since moving to Al Etifaq in the Saudi Professional League last summer. He moved to Ajax in January and a poor performance since then has kept the 33-year-old sidelined.
Rashford will also not be heading to Germany as he has deteriorated significantly during the 2023/24 season. Chelsea’s Reece James and Ben Chilwill missed out on international duty due to injury problems, while teammate Raheem Sterling also missed out on the squad.
