An argument broke out between a passenger and an Uber taxi driver in Bengaluru over a faulty air conditioning. The man shared the video on X, claiming that the driver grew angry when he initially spoke to him in Hindi and later insisted on speaking in Kannada.
The video begins with the man saying that everything was fine during the trip, and when the man asks to turn on the air conditioning, the taxi driver suddenly becomes angry and says there is no air conditioning. The Uber driver says in Hindi that there is a problem with the air conditioner.
Finally, the driver doesn’t respond, so the passenger says, “If you don’t want to be picked up, please let me off.”
In the second video, a man can be heard saying, “You’re getting angry over little things.” It’s being charged. I didn’t want to go to Indica. ”
The Uber driver is seen speaking in Kannada, saying, “Kannada only.”
While sharing the video, the man wrote, “Since everyone is forming opinions, let me share some context here. The 16-second video is the first, followed by another. His friend’s I refused to sit because the Indica had no air conditioning and was filthy. Then I sat in his car and he only spoke to me in Hindi.
“But the moment I asked him to turn on the air conditioner, he started getting agitated. Listen to him reply in Hindi: There’s no air conditioner. This isn’t a language issue, it’s a BLR at work. It is a matter of arrogant and irresponsible persons who use Kannada as a smokescreen to keep fooling the gullible people who come to India,” he added.
In another post, the man shared the taxi number and tagged Uber Support.
Many users commented on the video sharing similar experiences. Users wrote about their experiences in Kalaburagi City. “I am also facing the same problem, but instead of in the taxi, he asked me at the hospital if I didn’t know Kannada, why did I come to Karnataka? That’s what happened in Karnataka ” Another user wrote, “A few such drivers I met in NCR and Bangalore taught me great lessons. Those drivers will never forget me. During my college days. That’s what I mean.
“You should file a complaint on the app and remove the issue there. You can mention the driver’s rude behavior. You may not have been the first customer to fall victim to him. Let’s downgrade. Don’t make it all public,” a third user reacted.
In March 2023, a video of a verbal altercation between an autorickshaw driver and a passenger in Bengaluru went viral. The video showed the auto driver refusing to speak in Hindi and berating the woman for not speaking Kannada.
